These items including cars, motorbikes, jewellery and cash were handed out to about 100 people whom the police had identified as the rightful owners after conducting investigations into the cases registered by them.
After distributing the recovered items, Zulfiqar Ahmed Cheema, the deputy Inspector general (DIG) of police, handed out cash prizes to the police officers who had shown good performance and had been played important roles in the capture of the robbers.
Addressing the ceremony, Cheema said that it was a remarkable day for the Gujranwala police. He said that the event would help build people’s trust in the police force. Cheema assured the audience that the police would never waver from its commitment to protect the law and order of the city. Besides the owners and the police officials, the ceremony, organised at the auditorium of the Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce, was attended by religious leaders, businessmen, parliamentarians, educators, industrialists and other members of the civil society.
