In the upcoming academic year, starting this fall, the public sector education institutions of the federal capital will formally start O and A level classes.
The final decision on this was taken by Federal Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Nazar Gondal on Monday. He was chairing a meeting that was attended by senior officials of CADD and Federal Directorate of Education (FDE).
The O and A level education will be cheaper than what is being provided by the private schools, said an official.
The minister directed to finalise all arrangements for the classes which will formally start from September 3.
“Classes must be started from September this year. Fee structure should be one third of the private institutions and 10 per cent quota will be reserved for the poor and deserving students,” he said. We want to provide quality education to those who cannot afford to send their children to expensive and costly institutions,” said an official, who attended the meeting, while quoting the minister.
Initially, Rs5,000 have been proposed as the monthly tuition fee and there will be four sections comprising 35 students each, said another official.
