HYDERABAD: The government would provide video conferencing facility in jails to enable prisoners to talk to their relatives online, said provincial minister for law and prisoners Ayaz Soomro on Sunday. “[Arranging] meetings between prisoners and their relatives had been a great problem for us in the past. This system would resolve the issue.” Soomro said that doctors were being appointed to provide adequate healthcare facilities to prisoners, while additional security personnel would be recruited in the near future as well. “The government has spent Rs60 million on buying modern weapons for the jail police.” The jail manual was also being amended.
