Safe blood transfusions: 115,000 safety kits given to govt

ISLAMABAD: A two-year supply of blood screening kits was handed over to the government on Thursday. The kits, donated by the US government, will help conduct more than six million safe blood transfusions. A ceremony in this regard was held at the Mother and Child Centre of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, during which USAID Acting Country Director Karen Freeman handed over 115,000 kits worth Rs320 million to Capital Administration and Development Division Secretary Imtiyaz Inayat Elahi. Addressing the participants of the ceremony, Freeman said the kits will be distributed to public and private blood banks across the country.
