In an ongoing movement to press for their demands, the residents of Abbasspur subdivision of Poonch District held a protest.

They demanded the government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to upgrade the status of Abbasspur town to a district. The protest was held under the Tehrik-e-Hasool-e-Zila forum, which represents all segments of the civil society.

All business centres remained closed in the area during the protest. The protestors raised slogans in the favour of the demands.

Elders of the area including former members AJK Legislative Assembly led the rally.

While addressing the protestors at Milad chowk, Sardar Asghar Afandi stated that the objective of the movement was the elevation of Abbaspur to the district status in order to secure the future of the young generation and to remove the sense of deprivation among the local population.
