BAHAWALPUR:

District Coordination Officer Dr Naeem Rauf has ordered an inquiry into contracts involving unauthorised parking stands in the city and asked the officials concerned to submit a report in a week. The order was issued on Wednesday after the DCO received complaints about several parking lots on Circular Road, allegedly set up by tehsil municipal administration (TMA) and the police.

The complainants said that the TMA and the police had set up illegal parking stands in front of plazas on Circular Road despite the fact that the plazas had their own parking lots. They said parking stands have been set in front of some plazas including Al Karim Plaza and Dubai Plaza.

Shopkeepers in the area told The Express Tribune that parking in these lots led to traffic jam.

Workers at these parking stands told The Tribune that they had obtained a contract for running stand from the TMA.
