LAHORE:

Additional District and Sessions Judge Malik Tariq Mehmood Zargham on Wednesday deferred prosecution arguments on a bail petition moved by one of the directors of Orient Labs.

The case was adjourned till June 28 because of a strike by lawyers in protest at the election of Raja Pervez Ashraf as prime minister. Zubair Iqbal said the factory’s collapse was an unfortunate incident but there was no justification for charging him with murder or attempted murder.

He said the other alleged offences he committed were bailable.

Brothers Zaheer, Zafar and Zubair Iqbal are accused of offences under Sections 302 (murder), 324 (attempted murder), 290 (public nuisance), 291 (continued public nuisance), 427 (mischief) and 149 (collective responsibility) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
