Contempt of court: Babar Awan, Justice Saeed exchange harsh words

An exchange of harsh words took place between Justice Athar Saeed and former law minister Babar Awan during the hearing of a contempt of court case against the latter in the Supreme Court on Wednesday, Express News reported.

The hearing is underway by a two-member bench comprising of Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and Justice Saeed.

The altercation started when Justice Saeed told Awan to “sit down” and to not “dictate the court”.

Awan withdrew the legal attorney of his lawyer in the case.

During the last hearing the former law minister had objected to the submission of evidence by the attorney general and requested the bench to note down his objection regarding the order.

He had contended before the Supreme Court that he did not want his trial on contempt charges based on submission of "single evidence", like in the case of Pakistani neuroscientist Dr Aafia Siddiqui.

The apex court had stopped him for drawing a parallel between his contempt of court trial and Dr Aafia’s case.

the real sane articulate learned person in Pakistani politics, dr Awan is a hero he has shown this PCO JUDICIARY IT'S UGLY FACEMIN THE MIRROR This PCO judiciary deserves no respect ,,all sensible people now curse the courts for bringing the country to the brink of lawlessness

Mirza | 12 years ago | Reply To tame the SC and its PCO judges Babar would have been better off to attack and scare the court, a la PML-N and Sharif. Once the tamed the SC and judges there would be no accoutability and like Sharifs his case would not be heard by any court. Learn from your experience.
