Disrespecting women: MNA calls for Alauddin’s disqualification

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Tuesday called for the disqualification of a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) parliamentarian in the Punjab Assembly for passing derogatory remarks against female members of parliament, an incident that provoked an ugly row in the provincial assembly last week. PPP also appealed to Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry for a suo motu notice of PML-N MPA Sheikh Alauddin’s abusive remarks against the women. “How can any woman in society be respected when female parliamentarians cannot be honoured on the floor of the house?” questioned Member of the National Assembly Rubina Saadat Qaimkhani. Qaimkhani, who is also the parliamentary secretary on human rights, demanded the permanent disqualification of Alauddin from the Punjab Assembly for his offence.
