Power outages: Madina Town residents protest

FAISALABAD: Dozens of people including residents of Madina Town staged a demonstration against the suspension of power supply to the area on Tuesday. The protesters said the duration of outages in the area had increased two weeks ago when a private company supplying power to the area suspended its operations. Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) Deputy Director Tahir Sheikh the company had been supplying power to the area under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the FESCO. He said the duration of outages in Madina Town and its adjoining areas had increased since the company’s power plant stopped working 16 days ago. He said the FESCO was making alternative arrangements to improve supply to the areas and hoped the situation would improve in a couple of days.
