Assessment: Lower court judges to declare assets

LHC registrar directs all district sessions judges ensure declaration of assets of staff working under their control

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday directed all judicial officers of the subordinate judiciary in the province to declare their income and assets from 2011 to 2012 and gave them till July 31 to submit their returns. On behalf of Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, the LHC registrar issued the notification directing all district and sessions judges to ensure the declaration of assets of the staff working under their control. The notification said a district and sessions judge is required under the amended Rules 12 (2) of the Punjab Government Servants (Conduct) Rules 1966, to forward his/her declaration of income and assets for the financial year ending on June 30, and also of all the judicial officers and superintendents working under the judge. The judge was also asked to show any increase or decrease in his/her or the subordinate judiciary’s property during the said financial year along with bank statement(s) and other related documented evidence by July 31.
