Talks between the foreign secretaries of the two countries which took place this month were to be succeeded by talks between Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar and her Indian counterpart SM Krishna in Islamabad next month.
Further talks will be held between the foreign secretaries of the two countries on July 4 and 5 in New Delhi.
The talks were being held to discuss and, if possible, resolve issues between the two countries that have been ongoing for decades, including the Kashmir dispute and for reviewing review progress of the second round of the peace process between the nuclear-armed neighbours.

@Ahmer Ali:
You should write lines for Lollywood. All bluster, no substance.
Not only that, you are even out of touch with your own Govt's policies. They are extending the hand of friendship time and again and just granted us Most Favored Nation status which previous regimes had denied. It looks like even they realize the lost cause that is Kashmir.
Kashmir is integrated into India already. Where 80% of the people voted for local elections, you cannot say they are not integrated. My friends make annual trip to Kashmir for the summer. They have been doing that a lot lately that the Tourism in Kashmir is booming. This cannot happen minus integration.
Your media, your Govt, your military establishment, your schools have provided you wrong info. They have brainwashed you and are deceiving you.
Stop making grandiose statements and come down to reality.
Talks between foreign secretaries have not been held yet but between defense secretaries and defense ministers did take place this month. The foreign secretary talks next month on 4th and 5th July will primarily focus on Kashmir, people to people contact.
@BruteForce: Then remember one thing,id est,Kashmir can never be the India's integral part now and in the future and shall remain the bone of contention between India-Pakistan and never forget it that India-Pakistan's stable,strong,permanent and forever friendship is only only only based on the resolution of Kashmir issue and no any other resolution is acceptable except first Kashmir to resolve all the other remaining burning and core issues between India-Pakistan.
@chindi chor ka baap: Oye naam to theek kar apna pehlay Choron jaisa naam rakha hai.
I agree with you. Go try it and then wait for the response then. Some people not once but twice don't understand. Tumhara Baap = Soviet Union was defeated in Afghan Soil and now your Other Baap USA is following the same fate. Learn from their experience.You are No power at all as compare to them. Looks like you are planning to be the next in the queue. Talibans simply love you LOL.
@Hammad: ya you are right drone is the best idea
It's time for the two neighbours to be serious about resolving their conflicts over the disputed areas and improving their relations. But it's easily said than done. The dialogs of the past years have yielded no significant results.
Any so called talks with India won't be fruitful or successful till, we will have sensible, educated, honest, loyal (nationalistic) leaders, bold enough to sit n talk with Indian counter part. With all respect to our army, Indian mentally seems convinced that incidents like 1971, takeover of sachins heights n others, western powers after Pakistan under one pretext or other, Afghans behavior etc adds Indian stuburness to sit n resovle any dispute respectfully. Pakistan missed two (2) golden chances a. 1965, won on ground, lost on table. b. 1962, when told Pakistan hit India now, but, our rulers decide otherwise, in their view it was against their morals. On the other side Indian never missed any chance/opportunity to hit n weaken Pakistan. We feel it's now on 180-million people to realize n wakeup from day dreams of 60-plus years n select patriotic sons/daughters of this land (not immigrants) for higher offices n rulers, build a strong Pakistan (within)economically/militalarly.Than n only than Indian's will sit n talk seriously - rest will be history.
Todays IT era has introduced some exciting technologies some of them are phone and video conferencing. Instead of expensive foreign tours the ministers can just talk on phone or make a video chat (we know skype is used privately). What is the use of telling the world we are postponing talks or initiating talks? For heaven sake Engage in sensible talks.
@Ahmer Ali:
In 65 years India has not given away 65 inches of its Territory. That was the time when India was its weakest. What makes you think it will happen in the future?
Please present a scenario where this could happen. You are just giving false hope to gullible fools who believe this can happen. It will create trouble for both the countries unnecessarily, more so to Pakistan than India.
To me Indo-Pak disputes are like a chronic disease which can not be cured and at best can only be managed with proper medication and precautions.
Good decision. There should be no talk till one side or the other gets to the point such desperation, that it will sign the dotted line. Only then the talks would be meaningful
@OmarSharif: You mean TTP?
@OmarSharif: "Why bother to talk? Use the strategic assets to solve problems." +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The current practice is to use strategic assets and talk to camouflage the strategic assets!
Both India and Pakistan need to talk for a long lasting peace.There has to be lasting peace,trade and commerce and more people to people exchange
@Ahmer Ali: keep dreaming.
@Hammad: so what will you do?? Can you do anything else? US will take care of you.
kashmir is not a "Dispute" its our territory
Why bother to talk? Use the strategic assets to solve problems.
Good. There was no need of talks anyways.
Abu Hamza Jundal's arrest changes everything. He is said to be cooperating and his revelations could radically affect the present equation. India should wait until it learns everything.
for God sake please sign the liberal visa agreement, last time indian delegation were disapointed by Mr Raheman Malik ( he thought he is being very smart )
Now that KSA has handed Abu Hamza over to India, all talks will not be fertile.
@Polpot: Of course the upcoming Presidential elections in India are a factor just as in everything else Pakistan and Indian track record and history are so comparable in terms of who started the wars , who won them, who pushed thousands of terrorists in which country. Haven't you figured it out by now?
@Hammad: "There is no point talking with India."
You are joking right? Pakistan is the country that does not have a government who can commit that any agreements negotiated will be implemented. These talks will now only restart after the next government is elected.
In other words, there is been some issue on the border...
"The talks were being held to discuss and, if possible, resolve issues between the two countries that have been ongoing for decades,including the Kashmir dispute". "Forget Kashmir and convert LOC into permanent border under the Indian government's control" this is the only solution of Kashmir issue in Indian leaders' eyes but remember Indians your this dream shall never be fulfilled/come true because in the future Azad Kashmir and Indian Ocupied Kashmir shall get its status as an independent and sovereign state as a "Kashmir" without the interference of Indian and Pakistani governments in any forms and manifestations and now that time is not so far Insha Allah Almighty.
"In light of the internal affairs of Pakistan and the upcoming presidential elections in India ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Are you sure that the upcoming Presidential election in India is a factor?
"talks between the foreign ministers of the two countries have been postponed till an undisclosed date sometime in August or September," ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Date Undisclosed and Year Undisclosed.
There is no point talking with India.
