Shahi Syed refuses to meet Raja Pervaiz Ashraf

Ashraf had called Syed at the Governor House for a meeting. Spokesperson says ANP and PPP should meet like partners.

KARACHI:
Awami National Party (ANP) Sindh chapter chief Senator Shahi Syed has refused to meet newly-elected Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf during his visit to Karachi, Express News reported on Monday.

Syed has stated that he does not believe in “exhibitory meetings.”

The ANP spokesperson told Express News that Shahi Syed had been called to the Governor House to meet Ashraf, adding that the ANP is a coalition partner of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and they should meet like partners.

Ashraf is also expected to meet Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leaders at the party’s headquarters, Nine Zero, today.

Both ANP and MQM are coalition partners of PPP in the Sindh and federal governments.

Shahi Syed had earlier demanded that the PPP should treat ANP like they treat MQM.

“We have supported PPP unconditionally and we will do so in the future but they should think that if they can visit Nine Zero day and night, they should also visit Mardan House, which is a centre of Karachi’s Pashtuns,” Syed had said.
