Misfortune: Three Afghan refugees drown in drain

The corpses were later retrieved and shifted to the Quetta Civil Hospital for autopsy.

QUETTA: Three Afghan refugee family members drowned in a drain in Saryab Road area on Sunday. According to police officials, seven-year-old Abdul Rauf fell into a drain near Burma Hotel while playing. In an effort to rescue him, the child’s mother named Maryam and grandmother Zuhra Bibi also leaped into the sewerage. However, all of them subsequently died of suffocation. The corpses were later retrieved and shifted to the Quetta Civil Hospital for autopsy.
