The presidential ordinance stated that measures taken by Gilani during the April 26 to June 19 period cannot be challenged.
Earlier, in light of the prime minister’s disqualification, petitions were filed stating that Gilani's decisions from April 26 should be declared null and void.
The Supreme Court, on June 19, declared Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani ineligible to hold office and said that he had been ineligible since April 26.

@PakShock: I want to ask you why those 200million whom he was supposed to represent not protesting? Protecting a criminal is a criminal act, if somebody commits one he will be dealt with accordingly. This is democracy.
@Muhammad Ahsan KHAN: Which anti-Islamic law has been passed by the parliament? The last person who equated himself with Islam was Zia. Are you suggesting bringing up corruption charges against the son of CJ is an un-Islamic act? In case you were in coma for the last 15 years, this very judiciary including Iftikhar Chaudhry gave legal cover to 11 years of military rule of Musharaf under a similar ordinance. Did you protest about that un-Islamic act?
I thought PPPP is constitution abiding party..... Where in 1973 Constitution this clause of 'Presidential Ordinance' has been mentioned??
Here you go my boy, wel done Mr. Zardari. :)
Unfortunately and regretably, the daunting language, which it happens to have used to communicate that it supersedes the apex court by ordering the curb of being challenged by anyone in the court of law etc.Does tantamount to exceeding the Presidential powers as envisaged in the constitution. This certainly could be construed as an attempt to violate the fundamental rights of an individual and undermining the apex courts powers and authority...Such act are only undertaken under a declared emergency in face of a anarchical situation not otherwise !
lets see pic of gilani for 2 mins in silence. soon this pic will fade in our memories. i m sorry for the people who had a chance to serve people but didnt
@Muhammad Ahsan KHAN: then why have immunity for the president in the constitution ,if you have immunity clause for a certain office as per the constitution of Pakistan then it should implemented not interpreted it as per ones personal sense of jusitice, if this is allowed what is the guarantee tomorrow other laws of the constitution are not interpreted this time it might for the good of a few, Some Pakistanis who are seeking proactive judiciary at the cost of the parliament are abdicating their responsibility to elect better leaders
Mr. President, event-specific ad hoc ordinances will not serve the nation. This is high time for a comprehensive constitutional amendment to assert the supremacy of the parliament. The evidence of manipulation of the highest judiciary by the establishment in the past is so overwhelming that the judiciary cannot be trusted for its independence in the cases of political nature. The constitutional amendment must clearly resolve that specter.
Ditto PakShock The plethora of idiots rejoicing this naked trampling of our right to chose our representative is alarming. Youth? what idiotic youth we have. Each day my hopes of a better tomorrow are smothered by the imbecilic notions of our masses. The few like you, restore it for a day only to be dashed by another PTI-for-life or Chief-ka-janisar.
If a judge removing a Citizen Representative of 200 million on an ambiguous constitutional clause of then why the Citizen's Parliament did not enact the clause of Constitution which protects Public Leaders in same scenarios.
Now don't give me the "it was the Work of the Opposition" reason. I want to know if any such Judges in future can remove my Representatives then why not these Judges choose Prime Ministers? Why did we go through this costly and economically devastating elections anyway? I want answers now!@Baghi: Couldnt agree more, sad though it must be for the common Pakistan, but then what can one expect when a nation goes after bombastic goals without a reality check.
We have become funniest nation on th globe with no national vision in sight but to create panic and fun round the clock. Elite of country is humbly requested to refrain from giving further jolts. Please concentrate to solve the burning problems of the nation.
We love to make things complicated, don't we?
What about the federal budget..???
Is he laible to pay back expenses for his foreign trips made after April?
Isnt this liable to be challenged in court? ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Hmmm..... Presidential Ordinance has it's limits. It cannot make the dead man alive.
