Gilani, who had earlier shifted to the Islamabad Club after he was disqualified by the Supreme Court, shifted to the sixth floor of the Presidency today where he was given three rooms for him and his family.
Sources say there are security reasons behind this decision as other places are not secure enough for him to reside in.
According to Express News, all security protocol provided to Gilani, including his security staff has also been transferred to newly-elected Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf.
Security measures taken at the Prime Minister House in Multan have also been recalled and a lone police mobile van is stationed there.

@Raza Khan: Retard
You only have yourselves to blame for his leeching off your tax dollars. Considering the Pakistani public reactions to everything, that security excuse can actually be used.
why is the foreign exchange earned by the sweat and blood of overseas Pakistanis spent by the PM and his entourage on foreign trips. staying at expensive hotels and still the overseas Pakistani does not have voting rights. The OPF spends money only to benefit the upper class, why arent the children of labourers working abroad given free education? Foreign remittance should accounted for separately by a commission. The govt takes foreign loans, even get kickbacks, spends on development, where 40% goes in the pockets of corrupt bureaucrats. We are all waiting for that CHANGE, hope it will come soon.
It says something about a country where its former Prime Minister needs security support. Does this mean Gilani will be provided such escort forever?
Strange how thy keep saying democracy? Whole villages are sold for a week worth of ration. It's amazing how they're killing us with power and every other thing imaginable and then move into luxury hotels getting three rooms.. Have they seen how people of our country are living in cramped spaces? How our children are picking up garbage instead of studying. How our beggars are increasing everyday. How our education system is failing. How can they look at themselves? And don't tell me that it's all because of the people before them. You have ample time to fix it.. Even before this term..they had their time.. What is wrong with year people? Don't you fear Allah?
@Adil Pakistan does not make progress becoz certain institutions such as courts and army do not accept parliament's superiority not becoz of secondary violations of financial rules. Once basic principles of democracy r adhered to by army and judiciary, the rest will follow. jurisdiction.
@Snausher: you really gone berserk. Then why CJ require security? Why Imran Khan never go without his bodyguards?
@Raza Khan: Please be Pakistani, think Pakistan and put Pakistan first then you will understand that what the ordnary Pakistani is going through under so called democratic govt of PPP.
@Raza Khan..i salute you sir..people like you make sure that Pakistan will never progress.
No matter where you hide, you will be brought in public and hanged.
As they say, in a democracy some are more equal than the others.
ET can you disclose all the comment which you moderate and never let them publish ? you will not disclose them as you do not represent free media
Can any body tell me if President house is Zardar's personal property so he can make use of it whichever way he likes? If there are security risks for Mr Galani then I wonder I about his claim that he was elected by people of Pakistan unenmousely and all of a sudden he cannot find a safer place to live in Pakistan except presidence house? I have question in my mind if someone from Pakistan including president, Pak Army chief, Pak CJ that if a person who can even afford his private security arrangements is being given place to live in president house what about the security of the people who are being killed every day on the streets of Karachi? What about the people who are being raped on the streets? What about the people who are being looted every day on the streets of Pakistan? What about the people who are committing crimes to kill their hunger because of poor profarmance of PPP govt? Are they not humman beings? Don't they have right to live? If Galani needs security and can use precedence house to live then every Pakistani have same right because it's not their personal property. Where is Pakistan Army. please come and throw them out. They are cheating the whole nation in the name of democracy. I think Army rule is far batter then this kind of so called democracy....
It saddens me to read the remarks of fellow Pakistanis by making fun of our ex prime minister who served honorable & left in a very dignified way. I salute him! History will judge him as a very straight forward & honest PM who stood up to establishment pressure. His words in NA will be remembered when he said that "State within a state will not be accepted" & also "They ask us why so many visas were issued when I ask them who issued Osama bin Laden to stay in Pakistan". One honest pm can only utter these words! Establishment & judiciary are after PPP from day one.
@ B. Ally - I am amused on ur definitions on integrity. Raise your standards man !
@VINOD: Too much of constitutional jugglery but you missed the very simple point. The letter is not about prosecuting AAZ but to bring back the Pakistani tax payers' money back to the country.
This shows these guys r just in politics to make dollars! How can a politicican b scared of his own ppl.
President House: A New Safe Haven!!
@plarkin : I don't know about you but I pay 10 to 20% tax on every bar of soap and a kg of rice and gee as well as on my power and phone bills. Think I reserve a right to protest when that payment from my pocket is being misused by a gang of corrupt Mafia.
Gillani deserves a life term in Adyala jail and inshallah will get one , once the plunder and looting era of his party comes to an end and yes they know very well what is ephidrine.
@Abbas K:
A Pakistani tax payer? Now that's an oxymoron.
Justice M Katju, Chairman,Press Council of India, has said " Following the British Constitution almost every constitution in the world has incorporated a provision giving total immunity to presidents and governors from criminal prosecution. Thus, Section 248(2) of Pakistan Constitution states "No criminal Proceedings whatsoever shall be instituted or continued against the president or governor in any court during his term of office.".......It is baffling, therefore, how proceedings on corruption charges can be instituted or continued against the Pakistan president........ Moreover....The PM holds office as long he has the the confidence of parliament, not the confidence of the supreme court. The court.... has clearly gone over board and flouted all canons of Constitutional Jurisprudence."
Material things come and go. What matters most to a man is his integrity and stand one takes for his belief. Gilani stood up for what he thought was a right thing to do so any price he paid is too small..
I have seen photos of the plush interiors of this palace. It is truly befitting a royal, each cutlery, each curtain worth a million. A Saudi royal should feel shy for a while seeing this opulence. It can easily accommodate few more families of loyal like Gilani. If somebody can show the exteriors of this palace, I would be pleased. I never new the palace is seven storied.
Congrats to people living in and around DHA Lahore.......................you'd know what I mean if you have waited hours in the traffic waiting for His Highness to complete his 5 miles journey from airport to Y Block.
Presidency - A home for PPP Jayalas
When will we realize that Govt is run for people not for supporters (Jayalas)?
Now is the perfect time to vote for PTI (vote for CHANGE)
Hussain Haqqani should come back and give company to Gilani at the Presidency.
Also arrange an other 4 - bedroom apartment in the president house for the next prime ministor also ..........
Watch this space for the next update: Gillani proceeds to London for a Health Check up!
When this person is disqualified by supreme court for anything to do with politics, why is he still wasting Pakistani Tax Payer money and enjoying stay in President House?? By what law is the PPP allowed to waste Pakistani Tax Payers money like this?
Also, his son - There are warrants issued for is arrest, is there no law that stops criminals for participating in any elections?
What a shame.
A sad Pakistnai. How many extra rooms do they have at presidency? They are gonna get filled pretty quick.
where wil he find refuge when zardari is not president.
Perks of being a 'Siyasi Shaheed' ! :D
'Sources say there are security reasons behind this decision as other places are not secure enough for him to reside in.' And yet you are begging foreign cricket teams to play in Pakistan. Wow.
Seems for this government, there's no difference between running ones empire versus elected temporary public n government servants.
Its rightly said "A man is known by the company he keeps"
......but according to you 180 million unanimously elected you. So why worry ??
