Strike ends: Nurses served notices

MANSEHRA: The protesting nurses of King Abdullah Teaching Hospital were served showcause notices here on Friday. However, they resumed their duties after three days on Friday. As many as 19 nurses of the hospital went on strike when the Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Niaz Muhammad rescinded his earlier decision of exempting them from night duty. Nurses Association President Nabeela Khan called a meeting of nurses and went on a strike three days back, demanding the administration to not call the nurses at night. As a result of the strike, the patients had to suffer but Dr Niaz made alternative arrangements to run the affairs of the hospital. On Friday, District Coordination Officer Dr Ambar Ali Khan met with the nurses and warned them of disciplinary action if they failed to resume duties within 24 hours. He also served them showcause notices and demanded an explanation of why they went on strike, exposing the patients to suffering.
