The PPP had earlier today announced that Raja Pervaiz Ashraf will be their candidate for the post of prime minister.
A delegation of the ruling party, led by senior leader Khursheed Shah and accompanied by coalition representatives, had arrived at Rehman’s residence for talks. The JUI-F chief had filed nomination papers on Thursday.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Shah said that the PPP had come to the JUI-F chief for help and had requested him for support. The senior PPP leader said that Rehman’s decision will be acceptable to them.
Rehman said that it would have been better if the PPP had come to him before picking a candidate. He said that a final decision will be taken after consultation with party members.

@Hedgefunder: Is Pakistan an Islamic Republic, or a Peoples (Party) Republic? If you concur with the Pakistan Constitution, then you must change your hard-core secularist ideology, which is anathemical to the Islamic Republic.
Best chance we had as far as no corruption and prison time is concerned. At least i could sleep better knowing he wont sell out us to the west like previous govts mind you which all have been liberal or ultra liberal ie PPP
Not enough halwah!!
Well BROs Who is WoRth it !!!! We Can call a true leader!!! A Passionate patriot Who can drive the country in right direction Ahhh We are Missing ThOSe Leaders!!!!
This is what happens when Clergy gets involved in matters of State, rather than focusing on spiritual and religious guidance !!!! Its high time that Pakistanis learn to keep these two entities separate and their respective roles, clearly defined, otherwise the future is very dark for Pakistan !!!
Possibly because the guy has no agenda, no credentials, no experience, no idea about foreign relations, trade, taxation etc etc etc??? Then they think they will be able to deal with countries like USA???? Hellooooooo Doh!
not suited for the job in current situation...pak needs to develop cordial relations with the west and its immediate neighbour, and this man cud harm it further...
A couple of months back, I'd never have said this guy should be prime minister. But when I see the corruption of the PPP, I think even Maulana Fazlur Rahman would be better than Raja Rental Power thief.
@Introspection: Sometimes their is a marked difference in theory and practice. Kindly enlighten me with some good example or any country where that Utopian Islamic Political System is being implemented right now in the whole wide world so that I could have a firm belief in the said system.
Make a new rule that overweight politicians must be barred from office so we could have a sigh.
@Ordinary Villager: Haven't you ever read, heard, experienced, or perceived, that ISLAM is indeed a complete, sustainable, and practicable code of life replete with High Ideals, morality, and ethics?
Please say no dear molana. I live abroad and dont want to see ur face as PM of pakistan in newspapers here.
the most clever politician in pakistan...
This man has always been party to each and everything that has caused political harm to Pakistan.
Stretegy of Rate increase :). My guess is he will just oblige later on
PPP, Increase the volume, but slowly, perhaps he is going to agree at whatever lowest you offer. Cunning opportunist has no other choice!!
@Ordinary Villager: Dear Brother Islamic is being exploited by our corrupt and shameless so called Religious leaders. Look at Maulana what character he has? All the time he tries to get him and pay price.
this guy as PM??????
As usual, Maulana wants to strike a "deal" with PPP govt..
Well i dont know but whenever i see JUI members then I always reckon that Religion and Politics should be separated and we dont have to believe Iqbal's ideology that " Juda Ho Deen Siasat Sai To reh Jaati Hai Changazi". Religion Islam is being exploited now a days sometimes in Politics and sometimes in the form of Islamic banking and that is pretty dangerous trend.
{{The JUI-F chief has asked for more time and says he will take the decision after consulting party members.}}
Did he really just ask for more time?
