3,000 people evacuated in Rahim Yar Khan

About 9,000 kg of relief items have been dropped by helicopters to stranded survivors of the floods.

BAHAWALPUR: At least 3,000 stranded people have been evacuated for safer places, as troops from the Bahawalpur Corps continued their stream of relief activities in the flood affected areas of Rahim Yar Khan district on Sunday.

Earlier, the Corps Commander Bahawalpur, Lt Gen Naeem Khalid Lodhi visited the flood affected area of the Rahim Yar Khan district to inspect the relief efforts that are under way.

About 9,000 kg of relief items have been dropped by helicopters to stranded survivors of the floods in Bhong, Icha Bangla and Kot Sabzal areas of the district.

The corps commander also distributed relief goods among flood affectees of the area during his visit. He appreciated the dedication and high morale of the troops involved in the relief efforts. G O C, Maj Gen Hilal Hussain was also present on the occasion.
