ISLAMABAD:

A countdown to observe International Day of Peace (September 21) kicked off in Islamabad on Thursday.

The initiative has been taken by Youth for Peace (YFP), a student-run organisation with chapters in various educational institutions.

“Peace day represents an unprecedented opportunity for global unity and the youth have a vital role to play in this process,” said YFP President Abu Bakar during a press conference.

“We have started our mobilisation campaign, in which we will be taking corporate sector, the media and universities on board with us,” he added. YFP will launch a national peace drive in the next three months to spread the message of harmony and tolerance.  The drive will culminate with a mega event on September 21.
