Swat varsity to get 27 new depts

VC said the award of contract for designing of a new campus for the university is in its final stages.

A total of 27 new departments have been approved for the University of Swat during the fiscal year 2012-13, with an estimated budget of Rs976.49 million.


The decision was made during the sixth syndicate meeting of the university, which was chaired by Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan. Higher Education Department Deputy Secretary Amir Abdur Rahman, Registrar Mahboobur Rahman, and faculty memebrs attended the meeting.

The syndicate also discussed issues regarding the university’s fee structure, recommendations of the selection board and constitution of statutory bodies like the Academic Council, Board of Studies, Advance Studies, and Research Board for the university.

The VC said that the award of contract for designing of a new campus for the university is in its final stages.

The participants said that the university will be “tracked on modern lines” to cater the need of higher education for the people of Swat, as well as Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
