K-P MPA released with family after hours of detention
Saddur Dian, the husband of Yasmin, an MPA from Karak, told journalists that their son Arsalan and his friend were stopped by the police at University of Peshawar and taken to the police station.
When he was informed about the incident, he went to the police station to get them released but police also arrested him without any reason.
When MPA Yashmin Zia herself reached the police station, she was also arrested and was asked to sit in the police mobile.
News about their arrest was aired following the arrests and a large number of journalists and provincial ministers reached the police station, while Senior Superintendent of Police Operation Tahir Ayub was also informed about the incident.
Media was not allowed to enter the police station.
On the interference of Minister Information Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Mian Iftikhar, MPA Yasmin, her husband, and son were released.
SSP Ayub told the media that an inquiry had been ordered into the matter and that two officials of the police station had been suspended. He did not disclose the names of the officials.
