PESHAWAR: The Peshawar police late on Monday night arrested Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa MPA Yasmeen Zia along with her husband and children, Express News reported.

According to her husband, Lakki Marwat Awami National Party chief Saddaruddin, his and Yasmeens’ children had been stopped at the Peshawar University main gate as they tried to enter the university. Police officials then progressed to allegedly beat them up.

When Saddaruddin and Yasmeen reached the spot, they had an altercation with the officials.

The Lakki Marwat chief alleged that the police also beat them before loading them all into a police van driving them to the University Town station.

He said he did not know under what charge they had been arrested.

Express News correspondent Jahangir Shiraz said that no member of the media was being allowed to enter the station and no official was willing to talk about the case either.
