Garbage disposal: ‘Waste management the Turkish way’

Model of Istanbul will be followed for setting up garbage transfer stations each with a capacity of 2,000 tonnes.

KARACHI: The model of Istanbul will be followed for setting up garbage transfer stations each with a capacity of 2,000 tonnes in Karachi by December, said Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed. In a statement issued on Monday, he said that these stations would be used to dispose of 9,000 tonnes of waste generated in the city. He praised the solid waste management system on scientific lines in Istanbul, Turkey.
