Pakistani expatriates in UK voice solidarity with apex court

Lawyers, civil society representatives and Pakistani community leaders in Britain have expressed solidarity with the Supreme Court of Pakistan against the unfounded allegations levelled by Malik Riaz, a statement said on Sunday.

Rashid Ahmed, secretary of UK Lawyers Committee for Human Rights and Justice in Pakistan, said in a unanimously passed resolution that the conspiracy to tarnish the judiciary was initiated by the rulers whose corruption and misdeeds have been exposed by the court in recent judgments.

The meeting called upon the Pakistan Bar Council to take action against Attorney General Irfan Qadir for his insulting behaviour in the apex court.

The meeting called upon Pemra to conduct an inquiry into the planted interview aired from the Dunya TV.
