A large part of the blame for the Bahraini regime’s actions can be placed on the shoulders of the US and its ally Saudia Arabia. While Washington was willing to go to war in Libya to oust the Gaddafi government and has publicly supported revolution in Egypt and Syria, it remains one of the biggest supporters of the regime in Bahrain. It continues to arm the monarch even though it is clear that he is at war with his people. Pakistan, too, does not have clean hands here. It has always been close to the king and a lot of the police actions against the protestors have been carried out by Pakistani mercenaries.
Egypt, meanwhile, is falling prey to the politics of divide-and-rule that threaten the gains of its revolution. The Supreme Court dissolved the newly-elected parliament and handed over power to the military in what was essentially a coup. Protests against this action have been hampered by the Muslim Brotherhood’s refusal to withdraw from the presidential run-off and join the people on the streets. Shifting to a democracy was never going to be easy but the people of Egypt are now finding out it may well be impossible.

There are very few muslim countries that became democracy and remained as democracy. The only nations that have managed democracy are nations that have a Secular constitution.
It is an uphill struggle for Egyptians and they will never get anywhere if they keep voting Islamist parties to power, as Islam and tolerance rarely go together - A fundamental requirement for secularism and democracy.
If Muslim Brotherhood wins in a free poll, how is going to harm democracy? Isn't it the people of Egypt wanted in the first place, a government of their own choice?
@Yousaf Hyat: The so called Arab Spring wasn't orchestrated, it was sabotaged. Big difference between one and the other.
There was no Arab Spring to begin with .It is just a cool name to show an American foreign policy shift where from just supporting Israel in the UNO ..to out right elimination of any such State who might in the future harm Israel in any way ...Libya and Egypt have been rubbed out ...Iran and Syria remain on the to-do list.
Thanx to USA. Democracy reversed. Old guard reinstated.
The Egyptian army is similar to ours. Building Business empires instead of doing their duties. They need to control the govt. for their businesses. Using supreme courts to get rid of parliament is no surprise. Maybe they need to learn from our fauj now to use judiciary and media and mullah to pull strings from behind........
