ISLAMABAD:

Nearly 50 exquisite pieces based on impressionism and contemporary realism went up on display at the Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) on Saturday.

The works have been prepared using oil paints, pencils and charcoal by Saba Adeel, a fine arts student at RAC. This is her first solo exhibition.

The event was inaugurated by RAC Director Naheed Manzoor. RAC Resident Director Waqar Ahmed was also present on the occasion.

The exhibition focuses mainly on the country’s landscapes and architecture which reflect the splendour of the seasons, effects of sunlight and her adoration of multi-coloured lakes, clouds and atmospheric romance.

Ice-capped mountains, tranquil blue lakes and golden fields are all part of her work alongside her figurative abstract work which mostly depicts women.

Most of Adeel’s work consists of photographs of northern areas and Rohtas Fort, which she uses to transfer onto canvas with oil paint, giving a rich texture by working with layers.

Manzoor said Saba’s landscapes portray her admiration for the striking beauty of the country’s rustic nature.

Ahmed also appreciated Adeel’s choice of brilliant colours and her exquisite skills, saying that the artist takes nature as inspiration to create tranquillity.

The exhibition will continue till June 18.
