KARACHI:
First-class player Bismillah Khan will not get a central contract after his appeal against a year-long ban was turned down by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) yesterday. He had been banned for fighting in a grade-two match. Khan was named in the new central contract list in the stipend category despite being banned by the PCB, which the board was criticised for. “Khan’s appeal has been rejected which means he’ll not get the contract,” a PCB official told The Express Tribune. “But his ban could be reduced making him eligible to take part in the upcoming domestic season.” Earlier, PCB’s Director International Cricket Affairs Intikhab Alam, who also headed the committee that finalised the central contracts, had said that Khan’s fate will be decided after the decision on his appeal.
