Sheesha Campaign: Section 144 imposed on sheesha

LAHORE:

District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal has imposed a ban on sheesha use in public under Section 144 amidst the city government’s ongoing campaign against sheesha cafes.

Many cafes have been sealed for serving sheesha while government teams are still conducting raids in several places. The DCO issued a notification on Saturday imposing Section 144 and stating that no cafes could serve sheesha to their customers. The DCO also issued directions to all town officials to form special teams to check cafes and ensure the ban is implemented.

A city government official said that the purpose of imposing Section 144 was to allow the police to take action against cafes that serve sheesha too. Previously, the DCO had said that the action against sheesha cafes was being taken under the Prohibition of Smoking in Public Ordinance.

When the sheesha laws were being debated in out ESTEEMED parliament. I told my friends this is a clear-cut plan to mint money from cafes. And now this is what is happening, I go to sheesha cafes on more than half of the days in the week. And every sheesha owner has confessed to paying huge sums of money monthly to the relevant police stations. And DCO sahib, i dont want to bring it to your notice, as I am sure you must be knowing it and mut be....anyways.
