Press Release June 15, 2012

LAHORE: Traders and businessmen were, on Friday, assured by CCPO Muhammad Aslam Tareen that markets will be provided adequate security. However, the CCPO urged them to install CCTV cameras in and around markets and to hire security guards. Tareen declared CCTV cameras “of prime importance”, according to a press release. He said the cameras were a help in identifying criminals in case of a robbery. He said installation of cameras and hiring of private security would improve “internal security”. Tareen also directed City, Model Town and Cantt Division SPs to hold regular meetings with traders’ associations for chalking-out a security plan for Ramazan. The police officer told the 13-member delegation that traders and citizens needed to cooperate with the police to ensure a crime-free city.
