LAHORE:

Lahore Zoo officials told APP on Friday that they had received a large number of visitors in the last three days.

They attributed this to the increase in visitors to summer vacations in schools and colleges. Mudassir Hassan, the Zoo deputy director, said 7,234, 7,573 and 8,626 people had visited the zoo on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday respectively.

A total of Rs303,095 was made from ticket sales over the three days, he said.

Hassan said that with the increase in temperatures, the zoo administration was trying to ensure that the animals were protected. Room-coolers, ice-blocks and bamboo screens have been installed so the animals can get some relief, he said.

The animals are being given melons, watermelons and peaches.

The Zoo deputy director said that five water coolers had been placed across the zoo for visitors.
