KARACHI: In a brazen attempt to avenge the death of his brother, Arif Hussain threw acid on Shehbaz Choudhry on Friday at the city court complex’s premises.

The accused emptied a jug full of acid on his enemy and in the process also got himself injured, said eye witnesses. Hussain made no attempt to flee and surrendered himself to the police. The injured was shifted to the burns ward of the civil hospital for treatment where paramedics said that he had lost both his eyes and had burns all over his body. He is stated to be in a critical condition.

The accused was taken into custody and booked by the City Courts police for further proceedings. Explaining his motive, the accused told the police that Shehbaz had thrown acid on his brother on Eid day, who died of burns five days later.
