Until 2004: Property tax dues waived off

Punjab government has waived off outstanding property taxes on five-marla houses that were applicable before 2004

RAWALPINDI: Punjab government has waived off outstanding property taxes on five-marla houses that were applicable before 2004, said a press release issued by the provincial government on Thursday. Earlier, MPAs from Rawalpindi had requested Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif to look into the matter. Sharif then directed Secretary Excise and Taxation to immediately stop recovery of outstanding tax on five-marla houses before 2004 and ordered abolishment of all outstanding property tax before 2004. Following the decision, outstanding tax of Rs120m of before 2004 on the owners of five-marla houses in Rawalpindi while Rs600m throughout the province have been waived.
