GDANSK:

German defender Jerome Boateng admitted that he regrets the booking against the Netherlands which rules him out of his side’s final Euro 2012 Group B game against Denmark.

The Bayern Munich star picked up his second yellow of the tournament for taking too long with a throw-in in their 2-1 win in Kharkive.

“There is not much I can do about the yellow card and the suspension,” said Boateng. “It was a tough game, we stood up well to them in certain situations, but it was hard work and very tiring.”

Germany are eager to finish top of Group B, which means a quarter-final in Gdansk, the home of their base in Poland, against the team which finishes second in Group A.
