Express News correspondent Faisal Shakeel said the CJ had called all the judges of all registries to attend the 3 pm meeting on June 15.
Shakeel said that sources had told him the meeting will review the current situation in light of Dr Arsalan Iftikhar, the son of Chief Justice Chaudhry Iftikhar and what direction should the Supreme Court adopt and what should the CJ do in this particular case.
A suo motu was taken by the chief justice against his son Dr Arsalan Iftikhar and real estate tycoon Malik Riaz, following media reports that Iftikhar had received between Rs300 and Rs400 million from Riaz to influence judicial proceedings. The chief justice had summoned his son to the court, and had later detached himself from the bench.

The man must go----it's as simple as that. The longer he hangs in there and pretends to be doing justice the greater the damage and harm he is doing to the institution. Please, for God sake----GO!
@ET Reader: With his claims Riaz Malik is exposing himself as a perpetrator and should be tried in court for this attempt to buy justice! Setting an example for others and to serve as a case of law for anyone who attempts bribery.

Expect premature retirement of CJ
@AnisAqeel: have you ever heard of guantanomo bay .Go and read why was it created. To bypass the law of the land.US courts will also throw the cases out against most.judges Everywhere honest judges follow the law. From your write up it looks like you have nothing against Malik Riaz or Arslan who are BOTH the real culprtis especially the former as he bribes everybody and any body or tries to.
c.j. first resign then fight a legal battle........
His Honor is having honor of being a CJ of a judiciary that shower flower petals on declared murderer, throw shoes on judges and beat the prosecutors and police officers who do not agree with them. Even honest judges themselves are scared to hear cases of these fanatics. All terrorism cases are thrown out of courts and terrorists walk free in the streets. Where is suo motu for them!
Well if you look at Arslan's face it looks the same as Salman Butt our dodgy ex cricket captain when he was caught...so Dall me Kala Zaroor hai :)
In fact Chief Justice and his allies in Media blackmailed Government for almost three years and now it is their turn to blackmail him (+his allies) in same way by trapping his "innocent child" (and bribes to our Media Crusaders).
the nation has complete faith in the CJ. We salute his honesty and integrity. His decisions speaks about his conduct. Current compaign has been initiated by some vested interests who were upset on the way he has been dealing with quite a few burning issues such as "missing persons", Baluchistan, corruption scams involving NICL, Steel Mills, Hujj Scandal, NRO, dula nationality etc.
@Fahad Raza: Court’s credibility online.. No Court’s credibility down the line..???
At least the "Don" has to go to the jail, if not the Godfather.
I am with you CJ. Riaz is a liar, a business man only.
Is he not interfering in the case of his own son and making sure all goes well and all the other judges understand where the "well" is???
The allegations are pretty serious. CJ cannot state that he did not know what his son was doing. Pakistan is a very corrupt country and all hope of reformation is lost.... I am very disappointed by surfacing of this case.
Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones at others.
Please don't break my last hope of pakistan, I pray CJ comes out clear in this case, else I'll not ever trust any person or department in pak anymore.
He can save pakistan from the evil one
Threre is only one honourable course,Chief justice should RESIGHN along with all PCO judges otherwise every thing will be considered a conspiracy benefiting Arsalan
Charges of money swindling against Arsalan are as true as broad daylight. Very shameful act. CJ should at once resign and go.
Chief Justice should take a leave of absence and let the acting CJ to handle the serious allegations. Try to play union of judges card will discredit the already politicized judiciary further.
Papa kehte hain bara naam karega beta humar aisa kaam karega! CJ should form a bench of odd number of new judges and stay away from the case. There is no need to bring holy books and saints in the legal case just follow the constitution and code of conduct. The whole truth should come out ASAP. There should be no excuses and no sacred cows. The argument that my son is poor and without home is not going to cut it.
Looks like that CJ is going to resign. Well! what goes up comes down and it is time for him to hang-up the hat.
So far every body is concentrating on the allegations of Malik Riaz on Dr Arsalan. According to Malik Riaz, he (including his daughter and the son-in-law) spent more than Rs 340 million on Dr Arsalan.
Is there any person who can ask Malik Riaz that, apart from Dr Arsalan, can he give the names of other persons, including politicians, military persons, lawyers and journalists, who have been benefited from his generosity?
This question should be asked on oath on Qur'an with the words, "IF I TELL A LIE, THEN THE CURSE OF ALLAH SHOULD FALL UPON ME." If he names many other persons, then it will be confirmed that Malik Riaz is a habitual briber. I am sure he will not name any other beneficiary and will not reply to this question. Then the matter will be clear with what motives only Dr Arsalan has been targeted.
I am also sure nobody will ask this question from Malik Riaz. Is there any volunteer?
Iftikhar Chaudhary needs to resign from SC or at least take leave from the court while this case is on going. He should not try to influence the judges in this way.
Court's credibility online..
looking for a vote of confidence, are we? Standard operating procedure for the beleaguered ones i guess..
