KARACHI:

Pakistan’s Khurram Shehzad, who tested positive for doping, is yet to hear from the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) despite challenging the report.

Shehzad’s test was conducted during the South Asian Weightlifting Championship in Nepal, where he bagged a gold medal, in March this year. However, Shehzad could be stripped of the title if his ‘B’ sample also tests positive.

“I’ve requested the IWF to recheck my ‘B’ sample because I haven’t done anything wrong,” Shehzad told The Express Tribune. “I’ve submitted a detailed reply clarifying all the vitamins and supplements I’ve been taking. I have yet to hear anything for the sport’s world governing body.”

Shehzad, who represents Wapda, has also denied taking any illegal medicine to enhance his performance. The Pakistani, currently suspended from action, also won a gold medal at the 2010 South Asian Games in the 85kg category in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
