SUKKUR: A protest by Brohi clan members against the police turned ugly when the law enforcers resorted to teargas and aerial firing to disperse the protesters. A large number of Brohi tribesmen were protesting in Jacobabad on Monday against a raid at the residence of a tribal elder, Sardarzada Hazoor Bux Zehri, and the registration of a case against Zehri. They had gathered at the Jacobabad bypass and staged a demonstration by burning tyres and blocked the National Highway. The protesters, led by Abdul Haq Brohi and Nazir Ahmed Brohi, were demonstrating against the police high-handedness but the law enforcers turned violent and baton-charged them.
