
Scores of residents of Chak 235-JB staged a protest on Monday against the Langrana police for its failure to arrest a murder suspect.
The protestors, mostly women and children, gathered at the Zila Council Chowk in front of the of city district government secretariat.
They blocked the road, one of the busiest in the city, for more than three hours. They chanted slogans against the police accusing them of protecting the suspects.
Two men were shot dead last week apparently over a property dispute. A case was registered against the accused, who the protesters said, remained free.
Haq Nawaz, brother of one of the deceased, said the police have been making excuses for not arresting the suspects. He accused the police of taking bribes.
