PESHAWAR: A boy and a girl were killed and buried in Chowk Korona when they were allegedly found together.

DSP Daudzai Sahibzada Sajjad told The Express Tribune that they were informed about the incident and the location where the bodies were buried secretly. Sajjad said that an FIR was registered against the alleged brothers of the girl who killed the couple. “The girl had been identified as Salma while the boy as Kashif. They were caught in a room inside the girl’s house while the brothers of the girl Atif and Akif put them to death,” said Sajjad.

He added that when Kashif’s family knew about the incident they approached the jirga to secure the release of Kashif but the jirga failed to negotiate and the couple was killed. He said they have registered an FIR against girl’s brothers for killing the couple and against boy’s family for not informing police in time.

He said that several raids have been made to arrest the accused while the bodies had been sent to Khyber Medical College (KMC) for post-mortem.

Put the killers to death. Give them a trial, get the evidence, and if they are found guilty of killing, hang or shoot them. Do this a few times and the honor killings will stop.

Fourth, and most importantly, honor killers must be punished severely! This would be a capital crime in any civilized nation. The fact that honor killers are punished so lightly in Pakistan is an indication that the culture actually supports the notion of killing to protect the family honor.

Lastly, educate the public that killing = murder in ANY circumstance and is to be punished severly, (with the exception of self-defense if one feels his/her life is threatened).
