Speeding: Labourer, woman killed in road accident

A labourer was run over by a speeding oil tanker in the outskirts of the city.

A labourer was run over by a speeding oil tanker in the outskirts of the city.


Ali Raza, 25, a native of Narowal, was hit by the tanker while trying to cross a busy intersection near T-Cross, Rawat in the jurisdiction of the Sihala police On Saturday.

He died on the spot while the driver of the tanker (DMR 651), Muhammad Majid, was taken into custody by the police. Raza was a labourer at a nearby marble factory. His body was handed over to his family for burial, Sihala police said.

In another road accident, a woman was hit by a speeding car and died on the spot on Ibn-e-Sina Road in the jurisdiction of Ramna Police Station.

The police said Islam Bibi was shifted to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival there. They were still seeking the driver of the car (LZE 2818) that hit the woman.
