Acid attack: Girl, father injured
Attacker’s proposal for marriage had been rejected by the girl.

A teenage girl and her father suffered acid burns in an attack Chichawatni on Saturday. The FIR registered with Chichawatni city police stated that the attacker’s proposal for marriage had been rejected by the girl. It said the suspect had been calling the girl on her cell phone for over two weeks and asking her to marry him. On Saturday, it said, the suspected intercepted the girl and her father in front a college where she studied and threw acid on them. They were taken to Chichawatni tehsil headquarters (THQ) hospital where doctors treating them described their condition as out of danger. Medical superintendent Dr Muhammad Aslam said about 20 per cent of the girl’s body was burnt. He said her father had burns on around 10 per cent of her body. He said they were discharged after receiving first aid as there was no need for hospitalisation. Sahiwal district police officer Rana Ayaz said the police were tracking down the suspect through his cell phone number.
