KARACHI: Senator Yousaf Baloch was selected as the chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Resources, according to a notification issued on Friday.

Baloch is a seasoned leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and a close associate of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto. He is also part of a committee, constituted by President Asif Ali Zardari, with the goal of removing reservations of PPP workers in Lyari.

Baloch was also one of the only two individuals invited from Pakistan when Barack Obama became the president of the United States back in 2009.
