Awareness walk: Highlighting impact of disasters

Objective of the walk was to promote a better understanding of the issues faced by vulnerable segments of society

ISLAMABAD: A walk was organised at Trail 5, Margalla Hills, to enhance awareness about the impact of disasters on vulnerable segments of the population, on Friday. Minister for Climate Change Farooq Saeed Khan and Norwegian envoy Cecilie Landsverk jointly led the walk. The objective of the walk was to promote a better understanding of the issues faced by vulnerable segments of society and to sensitise the public about their needs, concerns and rights during disasters. The walk was organised by gender and child cell of National Disaster Management Authority to safeguard the needs and rights of all vulnerable groups including the elderly, women and children. A large number of students, members of civil society, diplomats and members of Pakistan’s blind cricket team participated in the walk.
