Back to the fake degrees issue

An HEC spokesperson said the Election Commission has not taken any action against fake degree holders.

ISLAMABAD:

A Higher Education Commission spokesperson said the Election Commission has not taken any action against fake degree holders.

He said the Election Commission is yet to submit the academic documents of 22 parliamentarians to the Higher Education Commission for verification.

The spokesman said the academic degrees and certificates of 10 members of the National Assembly, nine members of the Punjab assembly and three members of the Balochistan assembly are still to be verified. He said the Higher Education Commission has already sent fake degrees of 47 parliamentarians to the election commission, adding that a joint session of both the commissions will be held on Monday.

Fake Degrees in Pakistan | 14 years ago | Reply Here's something interesting. Someone has a list of all fake degree holders and their number is a lot higher than the 47 quoted by the ECP. The list is at http://fakedegrees.zzl.org.

Usman | 14 years ago | Reply The Election Commission is playing politics and dragging its feet on this matter since it does not want to or knows it cannot act against certain influential politicians. It is truly remarkable and commendable that the Higher Education Commission held its ground and did not bow down to political pressure. Sarah while I see your point, I respectfully disagree with it. The Election Commission of Pakistan and Higher Education Commission have nothing to do with the floods and can continue their activities as normal. Also discussing this issue at this time has nothing to do with the floods either. Had the politicians been honest about their academic qualifications, the proper checks and balances been in place and accountability been conducted at all times, this mess would not have occurred to begin with it. There should never be a lapse in accountability for any reason otherwise it becomes selective and discretionary.
