FIA reshuffle: Officers investigating Benazir murder among 28 transferred

LAHORE: Over two dozen key officers of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) have been transferred by the agency’s newly-appointed director general, Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari, The Express Tribune has learnt.

Some of the transferred FIA officers were involved in the investigation of high-profile cases, including Benazir Bhutto’s assassination case and a multi-billion rupee National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scam, sources said.

Director administration at the FIA Headquarters in Islamabad Wajid Zia has been transferred and posted as  the commandant FIA Academy. FIA’s director for Islamabad Zone Inam Ghani has been given the additional charge of director administration.

DD Anti-Human Trafficking Circle (AHTC), Lahore, Naveed Atif has been posted as DD FIA Immigration at the Allama Ibal International Airport Lahore, while Nasir Jameel, who was recently transferred from this post has been reposted as DD FIA AHTC Lahore.

FIA headquarters DD Khalid Rasool, an investigation officer in Bhutto’s assassination case, has been transferred and posted as DD FIA Circle Dera Ismail Khan.

FIA (Anti-Corruption Circle) Lahore Assistant Director Muhammad Ahmed Chaudhry, who is a member of the investigation team probing a multi-billion rupee NICL scandal and AD FIA Immigration Zafar Chaudhry posted at the Lahore airport have been swapped.

As many as 10 assistant directors (ADs) and 11 inspectors of the FIA have been transferred. Officers, particularly in FIA’s immigration departments in Lahore and Peshawar airports, were also reshuffled.

Whatever is happening in regard of Benazir's murder case all is in vain and useless and the killers of Benazir's shall never be arrested and traced out in PPP's regime doesn't matter how many officers are transferred of any investigation agency/department.
