Asjad advances in snooker tournament

PESHAWAR: National champion Asjad Iqbal advanced to the next round of the International Ranking Play for Peace Snooker Championship after defeaing Sohail Shahzad 4-3.

Asjad outclassed Shahzad with frame scores of 57-79, 58-43, 58-53, 65-37, 10-77, 47-54, 87-55. In another match, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Rambail Khan defeated Sharjeel Mehmood 4-2.

“The country’s top players are taking part in this tournament,” Rambail told The Express Tribune. “But I will try my level best to win the event for my province. There is fierce competition though and the matches so far have been very tough.” In other matches, Mohammad Sajjad beat Imran Shehzad 4-2 and Afghanistan’s Saleeh Muhammad outplayed Shah Khan 4-2. Afghanistan’s other cueist Nadir Khan prevailed over Khurram Aghan 4-3.
