QUETTA: Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Thursday handed over a cheque of Rs50 million to Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani for the assistance of flood victims of Balochistan.

While talking to those affected by floods in Sohbatpur, Jaffarabad district, the prime minister also announced restoration of subsidy on electricity supplied to tube-wells used for agriculture – which was withdrawn by Nepra a few days ago. All available resources of the government, he said, will be utilised for the assistance and rehabilitation of the flood-victims.

Besides presenting the cheque on behalf of the government, Prime Minister Gilani announced that 1,000 tonnes of food will also be supplied to the Baloch people who were struck down by the catastrophe. He said that more funds will follow for the rehabilitation of those affected after an assessment of the losses.

The premier also inspected the areas affected by the floods.
