Drive-by shootings: Three men found dead, one injured

The bodies of three young men were found by the police on Sunday, while a political party activist was shot at and another one went missing.


The Orangi Town police said that the bodies of Asad Iqbal, 26, and 31-year-old Shahid were found in Sector 8L on information from residents. The bodies were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. The police claimed that both men lived in Orangi Town and had been kidnapped.

SHO Naeem Ahmed said the men used to work at a printing press and Asad’s father was a wireless operator in the police department. However, a source in the police department suspected that Asad was killed because he used to give them [the police] tip-offs and information. Both men received multiple shots to the head and chest. The police registered an FIR no. 122/12 on a complaint from Asad’s older brother.

The body of an unidentified young man was found near Lyari Expressway in Bandhani Colony, said the Liaquatabad police. They claimed that the victim was kidnapped and the suspects had dumped his body near the expressway after killing him.

The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. An FIR no. 92/12 was registered on behalf of the state against unidentified suspects.

An activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement identified as Rashid was shot and injured in a drive-by shooting in Malir on Sunday. He was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. The police said that Rashid was associated with MQM’s Malir unit-43. A political party activist went missing on Saturday night from Kharadar.

The police claimed that Ali Patni was associated with the MQM Ranchore Lane unit-20 and his brother Ghaffar was also an activist. They suspect that Patni was kidnapped by Lyari gangsters.

A woman identified as 60-year-old Naseeb Bibi was shot dead while her two sons were injured in Gulbahar. They were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. The police suspect that the incident took place over an argument in the family. Waheed Ali was shot and injured on Sunday.
