Remanded: ‘Robber’ handed over to police

Yousuf in his statement to the police said that he tried to loot the family to get money for the treatment of his wife

A suspected robber was handed over to police on Sunday on one-day physical remand.


The robber, identified as Mohammad Yousaf, resident of Mandi Bahauddin, and his accomplice, Jamil Ahmed, resident of Sarai Alamgir, were arrested during a robbery attempt in RA Bazaar area on Saturday.

Yousuf had shot injured accidentally his accomplice who was shifted the injured to DHQ Hospital.

Yousuf in his statement to the police said that he tried to loot the family to get money for the treatment of his wife, who had been admitted to a hospital in Gujrat.

According to police, the two robbers entered into the house of Mirza Mohammad Shakeel at about 6:30am and held him hostage at gunpoint.

He tried to snatch the pistol from Yousuf.

During scuffle, the pistol went off and the bullet hit his accomplice Ahmed in the abdomen. Hearing the noise, Mirza’s son reached there and captured the robber.

Meanwhile, other family members and neighbours also came to help them, the police said.
