KARACHI:

Pakistan will send a 28-member contingent for the Asian Beach Games in Haiyang, China with an aim of clinching a medal in all the three disciplines the country is to take part in.

The team will take part in 12 disciplines during the multi-sporting gala, which takes place from June 16-22. Pakistan will participate in kabaddi, sailing and handball events. Winning medals in all three is the target set by the teams.

The Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF) Secretary Mohammad Sarwar said the team has prepared well and aiming for a top-place finish.

“It’s going to be tough,” Sarwar told The Express Tribune. “India and Iran will be tough opponents. But we are going with confidence. The training tour of Iran helped us and we also gained a lot of match practice.”

Pakistan won seven medals (two gold, two silver, three bronze) in Bali before bagging six (four silver, two bronze) in Muscat. The contingent is expected to leave on June 14.
